There are many different types of Triton showerheads and other shower accessories available out there, and the proper choice of them is based on what the owner wants from their bathroom suite. However, it is not a bad idea to be informed of what is available, so that each homeowner can make the best decision for their own personal bathroom.

In terms of shower heads, an increasingly popular choice is the multi head. This is especially true for families, where each person may want a different water pressure for their shower. The fact that multi head shower heads tend to save the homeowner money on water bills is a bonus.

The shower door is also a major question when it comes to renovating a bathroom. There are options that range from stylized glass to more basic plastic, which is often preferable for families with small children due to the safety aspect. Plastic doors are also usually cheaper than glass models.

Another major question is the type of door installation. The options range from the swing fold type, which offers the maximum amount of access to the shower, to the sliding door to the more basic pivot door.

The tiling inside the shower may be in a distinctive mosaic style, or it may be the same tiling style that is used on the bathroom floor. More and more, stylizing the shower in a manner distinct from the rest of the bathroom is becoming a trend. The whole point is to make the choices that create an attractive shower suited to the bathroom around it.

There are very many styles of bathroom sinks to choose from, whether it echoes the style of the rest of your bathroom suite or it is a basic, white bowl that will neatly fit into any bathroom.

Many sinks nowadays are set into bathroom furniture, into a wooden bathroom cabinet, for example, which neatly makes use of the storage space beneath your sink while creating a stylish, streamlined look.

Your choice of bathroom sink will largely depend on the space available and the style of your bathroom. Burlington sinks can even be made from beautiful metals like copper, stainless steel or chrome. There are even high-end, design oriented sinks fashioned from glass, as well as twin sinks, set together so two people can share their bathroom ritual in the morning, and save on time.

The many styles of bathroom taps, from the classic pillar tap in stainless steel to fancier mixer taps that come in gold, steel or copper colours, can also ensure your bathroom sink reflects your tastes and practical requirements.

One of the easiest ways to spruce up a grubby looking bathroom is to freshen up the shower curtain. Shower curtains seem to get dirty very quickly, with soap scum, mould and grime appearing quite frequently. Before you tear the offending shower curtain from its pole and throw it into the dustbin, here is a quick and easy guide to cleaning it that will have it looking as good as new in no time.

This method is not suitable for semi-rigid thick plastic shower curtains. It is best suited to soft shower curtains of a pliable consistency.

Remove the shower curtain from its rings and detach the curtain. If the rings are dirty too and require cleaning, take them down as well and place to soak in warm soapy water.

Next, place the shower curtain in a washing machine with some white towels that will help the cleansing process. For best results use one cup of bleach and one cup of vinegar, add to this your usual laundry detergent and wash the shower curtain on a gentle, cool cycle.

When the shower curtain is removed, it will be sparkling and fresh like new. Do not tumble dry the shower curtain as this will damage the fabric. Re-hang the curtain in the bathroom and allow it to drip dry as normal.

To guard against the regrowth of mildew and mould, dipping the shower curtain in vinegar or a salt solution can help.

After use, always remember to spread the shower curtain out so that it may dry thoroughly.

Wet rooms have increased in popularity in recent years for several reasons. For anyone who does not know what a wet room is, the simplest way to describe it is as a waterproof (or tanked) room with a walk-in shower. It is fully tiled so that a shower tray or enclosure is not required. The use of a screen is optional, but a central drain is essential.

Wet rooms were initially only widely found in spa hotels; however, in recent years many people have realised how practical a wet room can be. The easy access and level floor of a wet room suits a wide variety of people, from those passionate about cutting-edge interior design to those with restricted mobility, including individuals who use a wheelchair.

Wet rooms give greater flexibility to those with restricted space for a bathroom suite. Fitting a shower tray and shower enclosure into a tiny space can prove awkward. However, wet rooms can be adapted to the room available, and ensure the most efficient use of the space. The unbroken, fully tiled area in a wet room and the minimal clutter gives them a deceptively open and spacious feel, which has won them many fans.

So you’ve built and designed your bathrooms exactly the way you want it and the only thing left to do is furnish it. Rather than skimp on this part of the décor, take time to find fixtures and bathroom furniture that fit your desired look.

Picking Your Fixtures

The tap is one of the most used parts of the bathroom. From washing hands to brushing teeth, this fixture gets a lot of work, so it’s worth it to invest in a model that will stand up over time. Nickel and chrome taps last a long time and are easy to clean as well.

Choosing Suitable Furniture

When selecting the best furniture for your bathroom, consider the amount of free space you have in the room. If your bathroom is small, you’ll want to pick small pieces that won’t overwhelm the space. On the other hand, if you have a large bathroom, be careful not to overcrowd it with lots of furniture. Keeping the bathroom furniture simple and understated gives you plenty of room for accents.

If you’re ready to create your dream bathroom, there are plenty of designs you can look at for inspiration. From classic styles to spa-like retreats, you’re sure to find a bathroom style that suits your home!

Traditional Bathroom Designs

A classic bathroom style may include vintage bathroom furniture such as a marbled sink and an oversized brass mirror. Slate-coloured tiles along the shower wall add to this vintage décor. Another traditional design is the use of a two-sink vanity, which allows space for his and hers sinks, mirrors, and drawers.

Modern Bathroom Looks

A contemporary bathroom design might feature inspiration from Asian culture and style. The overall décor emphasizes an open, simple look with minimalist paintings, streamlined fixtures, and wooden furniture. To replicate this design, install a large sink basin with a low tap fixture.

Spa Bathroom Styles

Create a spa atmosphere in your bathroom by adding several windows, subdued lighting, plenty of plush towels, and a stand-alone bath. You may also want to paint your walls a calming colour such as sea green or periwinkle blue.

Adding storage to your bathroom will enable you to create extra space and keep your bathroom free of clutter. Creating extra space within your bathroom will enable you to easily carry out your bathroom tasks whilst achieving a tidy and organised look. Bathroom storage is particularly essential if you have a busy household, as you can easily create a separate area for each family member to store their bathroom accessories.

If you have a spacious bathroom, then you may wish to consider installing bathroom cabinets or shelves. By adding cabinets or shelves, you can easily organise your bathroom products and keep your bathroom looking organised. The many stylish cabinets and shelves available enable you to easily seek out something that will match the rest of your bathroom décor.

If you have a small bathroom, you may have difficulty finding room for extra cabinets or shelves. However, you can easily tackle this problem by adding storage baskets and stylish bins to your bathroom to keep it looking modern, tidy and organised. Bathroom sets such as a sink that comes with a cabinet can also provide you with extra storage space without taking up too much room. There are also plenty of storage containers available that provide just enough space for bathroom items such as toothbrushes, soap and hair products without cluttering your bathroom.

Whatever type of bathroom you have, adding storage is sure to keep it looking at its best and make daily bathroom routines quicker, easier and stress free.

When grouting tiles it is important to first allow the adhesive to set thoroughly. Adhesive setting times can vary depending on the product, so checking the instructions before grouting is wise.

There are various types of grout, so ensuring the correct one is chosen is essential. Grout for use in bathrooms will be more durable against mildew and damp as opposed to standard grout.

To spread the gout across the tiles a squeegee should be used. Working over a small section at a time will ensure that the grout will not dry out before the section has been finished. The grout should be spread across the tiles in all directions, this is to ensure that every inch is covered and no spaces between the tiles will be left. The areas between the tiles that have been grouted can be made smooth using a piece of doweling or the squeegee that has been used to apply the grout.

Before the excess grout sets on to the face of the tiles this should be removed. A thin film of grout is often left on the tile after the excess has been removed. This will clean up later once the tiles are buffed but should not be done until the grout has completely dried.

While removing a tiled floor can be a dirty, dusty job, it is not a particularly difficult one. Make sure to take steps to prevent the dirt that accumulates during the job from spreading throughout the house. Remember to wear appropriate safety gear, including plastic goggles.

Prepare

Using a pry bar, putty knife or chisel, remove the baseboard and shoe. If you wish to reuse these, it’s a good a idea to mark the back of them with a pencil, to know where they should be installed once the job is finished. Protect the wall by using a piece of scrap wood.

Remove all furniture and appliances on the floor. Set up a barrier of plastic sheeting to prevent dust from being spread throughout the house. Any vents should be covered with plastic bags.

For points where the new flooring will meet the old, cut through the tiles using a diamond bladed angle grinder for an even cut.

Removal

To remove the old tiles, use the following; a hammer, hammer drill, floor scraper and chisel. Once the tiles have been removed, the old, thin-set mortar will need to be removed from the underlying plywood. It can be scraped away. Once all the old tiling and mortar has been removed, vacuum the floor to remove any remaining debris and it is ready for the new flooring to be installed.
