Contents Insurance Comparison Websites

We have all seen adverts for comparison websites on TV. However, not all of them offer contents insurance comparison facilities. This article looks at three that do.

Moneysupermarket.com

The ‘Moneysupermarket.com’ website promises that 99% of customers could save money by using the price comparison feature. A detailed questionnaire in four stages allows users to compare contents insurance prices from 75 different insurance companies. The stages are: questions about the property, questions about security, questions about the policyholder and questions about the policy that’s required.

Gocompare.com

The ‘Go Compare’ website makes the same claim – that 99% of customers will be able to save by using the site – but compares a slightly higher number of insurance companies, over 80 instead of over 75. A headline proclaims that by using the site customers could save an average of £228.54 on contents insurance. The comparison process is similar to that used by ‘Money Supermarket’, but adds an extra stage to the questionnaire, including questions about home contents.

The ‘Compare the Market’ website does not say how many insurance providers it compares, but it does give an estimate of the time it takes to complete the form – approximately four minutes. The search engine also claims to save customers over £223 on insurance. The online form is user friendly and created to be as simple and quick as possible. The website also offers guides to help customers estimate the value of the possessions they wish to cover.
