Designing your New Kitchen – Measuring
When designing your new kitchen the first thing you will need to do is measure your kitchen area and then plot it onto plotting paper or enter the details into an online application that will plot it for you. This article offers pointers for measuring up for your new kitchen.
When measuring, you should record the positions of the doors, windows and services. Note them in the positions you wish to have them (if you want to change them around), or where they currently are (if you are not changing them). Once these are in place you can add the positions of cupboard units, appliances and sinks. Be careful to use the correct measurements, otherwise you will encounter problems later.
As you progress with the measuring and plotting of the kitchen it is likely that you will need to adjust the positioning of the electrical sockets, water and gas feeds.
During the measuring and designing stage of your kitchen, be sure to consider how easy it will be to use your new kitchen. Are the sink, fridge and cooker easily accessible within a few steps of each other?
