How to Build a Garden Fence
Having a go at building a fence will be a common scenario for any do it yourself enthusiast. Fences provide our gardens with a sense of privacy and definition. This is a relatively straight forward task that can be completed efficiently be following a few simple steps.
Step One
The first step is to take the fence posts and place them roughly six feet apart. Use some string to separate them and keep them an equal distance. This should tighten later when the posts are raised.
Step Two
Dig holes for where each post will go. Make sure they are roughly about a foot and a half deep because they will need to stand firm. This will stop them from falling down in harsh weather.
Step Three
Raise the posts and fit them into the holes. Mix up enough cement to fill the space in each post hole. The cement will solidify the structure and hold it in place.
Step Four
Allow the cement to dry and the nail your fence panels over the posts. Make sure the panels overlap by about an inch so that no one can see into the garden. Do this until the fence is fully formed.
Step Five
Go around and trim away any excess pieces of wood that may be sticking out. This will give an even finish to the fence and make it look professional. Go around and push each post to make sure it is firmly in place.
