How to Decorate Glass With Paint

Most glass objects can be decorated in a variety of ways by using paint to give them a uniqueness that will fit positively into a home area. Decorating glass with paint is the simplest of jobs that can be completed in a short space of time and by following just a few simple steps.

Step One
Choose the selection of paints that you will use. Stained glass paints are advised because they will allow a lot of light through and not defeat the object of beauty and light being able to get through the glass.

Step Two
Find patterns from the internet or ones from a craft store that can be sketched onto the glass. This will allow you to paint more directly and be precise with designs and patterns.

Step Three
Apply a very thin and light first coat to the glass object. It is important to use small paintbrushes for this step because it is delicate and may require a great deal of time and attention. Do not be afraid to experiment and twirl the glass as the paint runs down, this is a common technique and leaves a very nice finish.

It is advised that a stronger first layer is applied if the design is a complicated one.

Step Four
Apply a second and third coat being a lot firmer. This will engrain the pattern and paint onto the glass and will give a lot cleaner finish. Allow to dry then place where desired in any area of the house.
