The concept of interior design includes adding elegance to a lot of things in the home like wall finishes, lighting, flooring, stairways and treatments of walls and furniture. The main task of interior design is to create a smooth pattern in all these objects paying close attention to colour, theme, placement and texture.

A house owner can experiment with a lot of themes in interior design, which has taken off in a big way nowadays. It is up to the designer to pick a theme according to whatever the client wants reflected through their own personal space in the home.

An interior designer should work diligently to assess the needs of their clients and then design a house according to their specifications only. If a client is not able to tell the designer exactly they want, then it is up to the designer to get an idea about their needs by providing them with their own design portfolio. Also, the lifestyle of a person is a major determinant of the interior design of their house. A house owner with a lot of children cannot afford to have furniture in the house that is too costly so that frequent breakages do not happen.

The colour of the room is an important part of the interior design and it cannot be chosen in an ad-hoc manner or according to the favourite colour choice of the owner. The colour choice should be made according to the measurements of the room i.e. its space.
