Lighting for your home

Lighting is not the most noticeable form of furniture and often loses its effect during the day, but during the hours of darkness it is one of the most vital ways to show your contemporary designer furniture in its best light.  Not only will the way in which you position your lighting effect the appearance of your modern home but also the design of the lighting fixture itself will bear scrutiny.  There are four main methods of lighting the contemporary home; desk and table lamps, floor standing lamps, hanging lamps and also wall and ceiling lamps.

Desk and table lamps can generally be chosen to match the existing design of desks and tables in your home and will often highlight mostly the desk or table itself that they are resting on.  They are available in a variety of shapes from minimal to eye-catching designs by companies such as Penta and Flos.

Floor lamps are freestanding and are often useful to illuminate the walking space in your living areas.  They are available in both upright and also the curved variety that will overhang the floor in front of them.  They are available from brands such as Flos and Anglepoise.

Hanging lamps are a traditional style of lighting which are much more stylish from designer furniture manufacturers. They are often the main source of light within a room.

Wall and ceiling lamps will often highlight the dimensions within a room and can come in a wide range of designs which may either make your walls appear soft and subtle or bold and confident.
