Underfloor versus traditional heating systems

More and more homes are now starting to install underfloor heating systems thereby making this method of heating one of the most popular and effective. So, the question arises what is so special about this underfloor heating system that people are installing it in their homes? Most construction people have compared this type of heating with traditional heating methods. Just a short comparison will really highlight to any home constructor or renovator that installing underfloor heating is much smarter choice.

Electrical underfloor heating utilises a system called radiant heating in order to make the space warm. The pipes which run under the floor system will then warm the flooring material like carpet, wood, stone, concrete and tiles. With such floor materials warming, the room will eventually warm up as well. The heat comes from the flooring to the very top of a room’s ceiling.

On the other hand, when this latest heating system is compared to other traditional methods of air ducts shooting warm heat from the vents, the space will become warm but the flooring will actually be cold. This in turn can prove to be very annoying as well as bad for one’s health. With the addition of underfloor heating, the flooring beneath the user’s feet is warm so that one does not need to wear any socks even in the winter season.

Underfloor heating can also help in lowering the energy bill. Commonly known as green friendly heating, it requires less amount of energy to warm up the room. Also, the technique of radiant heating as compared to traditional ducting methods is better usage of the warm air.

Indeed, underfloor heating system is highly simple and easy to install compared with more conventional methods. The former can be installed with cables and electric mats in order to help the users customise their own underfloor heating technique.
