What’s Needed for Home Insurance Quotes?

In order to get an accurate quote on home insurance, you must provide details about your home and additional personal information about yourself.  The more accurate your information, the better the insurer can assess your property and coverage available to you.  Home insurance quotes are the first step towards actually buying insurance.  Get the right quotes the first time by providing honest information.

Personal Details

You will need to provide your full name, address, number of family members or other people living in the home, the county you live in and whether you rent or own.  If you want to be contacted by the insurer after finishing the quote, you’ll also need to provide contact information, such as a phone number or email address.  If you don’t want to be contacted, you can state this during the quote.

Home Security

The more secure your home is, the better your quote will be.  This is why home insurance quotes require you to answer questions about whether the home has smoke and/or carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, deadbolts, security systems and any other security and safety features.  The more secure and safe your home is, the less possible claims you are likely to have.

Construction

During the home insurance quote process, you’ll be asked questions about the year your home was constructed and the type of construction.  You’ll be provided a list of construction types for this question.  In addition, you must answer questions about the type of roofing material, the current condition of the roof and whether the roof is the original, updated or replaced.
